Tewkesbury Borough Council has announced its draft housing allocation for rural areas. Between Bishop's Cleeve and Winchcombe it has allocated 114 new houses. This is significantly less than those proposed by the Winchcombe Town Council's Library Exhibition - 200 houses for Winchcombe alone!
We would urge people not to be misled by the reference in the Gloucestershire Echo article & elsewhere to very high numbers of housing; these are based on assessments of sites which the Borough Council is required to make if a landowner or other party suggests a site for future development.
However, the fact that these sites, which are all designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, have been included possibly at the suggestion of landowners and/or developers is a matter of concern and we need to be vigilant in continuing to defend them against development."
Please email Winchcombe Town Council at info@winchcombetc.plus.com to ask them to oppose the inclusion of these sites.
