Results from our last survey

Thank you to everyone who completed the Survey either on the postcard or online.

We are still getting cards back, but as of the 15th March, 2015 we have recieved 369 replies.  The more responses we get, the better able we are to represent them to the Town Council and Tewkesbury Council.

Our aim is to generate sufficient popular support to force the authorities to engage in a well-designed and inclusive consultation.   We would like the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and Town Council to take notice of the views being represented.

Are the Town Council representing Winchcombe’s view’s?

There are many examples where simply the view of Winchcombe people have not been reflected in the draft plan. In our view, no more outrageously than proposing to build large developments in the two Area's of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

(
Please see the results of the survey question above)    Interestingly of the few people who feel that preserving Winchcombe’s AONB is only ‘somewhat important’  half are members of the Town Council, Steering Group or their relatives!

In our opinion many policies being presented in the Draft Neighbourhood Plan are not representing the views expressed in consultation.  Another good example of this is the policy 2.11 The Old Town hall.  ‘’Removal of the railings at the Old Town Hall and creating of a sensitive glazed understory area…’’

In the exhibition held by the Town Council in the Library, according to the Steering Groups data through so called consultation, ‘’Half a Dozen people’’ thought this was a good idea.  If their numbers are to be believed, 1000 visitors, 250 responses,  with only 6 people in support of this idea, how has this policy made it into the draft plan? Is this a true reflection of people’s views?

Below are the results of the other two questions we asked you.  Unfortunately the Town Council are saying they have consulted and do not want to engage in further consultation.  Please ask the Town Council to reconsider.
